Looking At New Big Rig Accessories Available

By Noemi Wallner

Some of the trucks seen on the highways each day are company owned and others are owner operated. These vehicles play a major part in moving needed food and other materials across the country's highways. There are excellent big rig accessories for these vehicles, at Electric Service San Jose, CA locations.

New software has recently been introduced which cuts down on time and reduces errors as well. This software works on the dashboard but provides information, figures pay for services and pay deductions for drivers, as well as figuring escrow accounts and balances.

This eliminates the need for the endless math that is so often connected with necessary paper work. With this software, all the data is imputed. This makes it easy to show all information, including things such as vacation hours, with a dash-mounted screen. Many companies are installing this software in their company owned vehicles.

A theft proof keyless ignition system is being adapted by many truckers. This system has a wired relay system, which is connected to a keypad in the truck's cab. It is wired through the fuel pump, ignition, ECM, or starter circuit of the truck.

In the keyless system, the driver punches in a code to start the engine. There is also a fob involved, which opens the door, eliminating the possibility of the driver locking him or her out. A great advantage is the elimination of the rig being stolen as, even if a thief gets into the cab, it is impossible to hot-wire the vehicle.

A very important new invention that is coming on the market is called Alertness Monitoring Glasses. One of the problems in the trucking industry is a driver falling asleep for various reasons. These glasses are geared to how many times a driver blinks his or her eyes, which will indicate the start of drowsiness. They have an infrared sensor and will set off a loud alarm when it is determined that sleep will occur within half an hour.

In addition to these special items, there are also big rig accessories to spruce up a truck as well as to make the cab more comfortable. Things such as extra chrome, better seating, better cooking arrangements, and hundreds of other things are now on the market. Truckers often spend more time on the road than at home and they need to be comfortable and proud of their rig.
